Term Limits

Policy Position

Colorado's Term Limits should be modified. Currently, the maximum any legislator can serve is eight years (House: Four 2-yr terms; Senate: Two 4-yr terms.) Strong consideration should be given to increase each of these elected positions by an additional four years. Under the current term limits, the turnover in both the House and Senate causes much institutional knowledge to be lost each term. This, in turn causes current legislators to be more easily swayed by the bureaucracy.
