"Children should be educated and instructed in the principles of freedom." -- John Adams (Defense of the Constitution, 1787)

Illegal Immigration

Home / PLATFORM

Policy Position

"I am totally committed to eliminating the negative effects of illegal aliens on the Citizens of Colorado. In recent years the influx of illegal aliens from many countries, primarily from Mexico is negatively affecting nearly all areas of our society including jobs and wages, healthcare, crime (drugs, violence, etc.), K-12 education, the transportation (road congestion) environment, and is changing the culture in which we live as well. While the U.S. has always welcomed immigrants from other countries, we have a legal process for entry. We are a nation built on the rule of law. Immigration laws are in place for many reasons, the primary one being the protection of our citizens. Without borders, we will cease to be a nation."

"As a State Senator, I am committed to making this one of my top issues of concern. You will find much information on this issue as it primarily relates to Colorado at my website."
"Today, we need a nation of Minutemen, citizens who are not only prepared to take arms, but citizens who regard the preservation of freedom as the basic purpose of their daily life."--John F. Kennedy

"The United States shall guarantee to every state in this union a republican form of government, and shall protect each of them against invasion; and on application of the legislature, or of the executive (when the legislature cannot be convened) against domestic violence."

U.S. Constitution Article IV Section 4

George Washington

"The policy or advantage of [immigration] taking place in a body (I mean the settling of them in a body) may be much questioned; for, by so doing, they retain the Language, habits and principles (good or bad) which they bring with them. Whereas by an intermixture with our people, they, or their descendants, get assimilated to our customs, measures and laws: in a word, soon become one people."
George Washington (letter to John Adams, 15 November 1794)

Theodore Roosevelt

"In the first place we should insist that if the immigrant who comes here in good faith becomes an American and assimilates himself to us, he shall be treated on an exact equality with everyone else, for it is an outrage to discriminate against any such man because of creed, or birthplace, or origin. But this is predicated upon the man's becoming in very fact an American, and nothing but an American...There can be no divided allegiance here. Any man who says he is an American, but something else also, isn't an American at all. We have room for but one flag, the American flag, and this excludes the red flag, which symbolizes all wars against liberty and civilization, just as much as it excludes any foreign flag of a nation to which we are hostile...We have room for but one language here, and that is the English language...and we have room for but one sole loyalty and that is a loyalty to the American people."

Theodore Roosevelt 1907

Initiatives to Stem the Flow of Illegal Aliens into Colorado are Underway

Illegal immigration is rapidly becoming a serious problem in Colorado. As border and other states become less accepting of those entering our country illegally, Colorado's population of illegal aliens will increase at an ever-increasng rate. That is why I, as a State Representative am working with other legislators, both in Colorado as well as other states, to put laws in place that will significantly reduce the influx of illegals into Colorado.

Naturalization Oath of Allegiance

"I hereby declare, on oath, that I absolutely and entirely renounce and abjure all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state or sovereignty, of whom or which I have heretofore been a subject or citizen; that I will support and defend the Constitution and laws of the United States of America against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; that I will bear arms on behalf of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform noncombatant service in the armed forces of the United States when required by the law; that I will perform work of national importance under civilian direction when required by the law; and that I take this obligation freely without any mental reservation or purpose of evasion; so help me God."
