SEN. SCHULTHEIS APPOINTED TO THE PRESTIGIOUS
LEGISLATIVE AUDIT COMMITTEE DENVER" Sen. Dave Schultheis, R-Colorado Springs, has been appointed to the independent Legislative Audit Committee. Trimming down government waste and holding accountable those who cause that waste is a duty I take very seriously. Schultheis said, Im honored to be appointed to such an important committee. The Legislative Audit Committee (LAC) is a permanent standing committee comprised of four senators and four representatives with equal representation from the two political parties. The Committee is responsible for reviewing and releasing audit reports and recommending special studies. The LAC also recommends an appointment for State Auditor to the leadership of the General Assembly every five years. We are pleased Sen. Schultheis has accepted the position, Senate GOP chief Andy McElhany, also of Colorado Springs added, he has been promoting government efficiency and ensuring accountability in government agencies as long as I have known him. The Audit Committee will hold its first meeting of 2008 on January 22nd in the Audit Hearing Room on the first floor of the Legislative Services Building. Sen. Dave Schultheis represents Senate District 9, which comprises the north central area of El Paso County.
