New nation-wide coalition of state lawmakers launches coordinated effort to secure borders and cut off all economic attractions for illegal aliens

Denver-Colorado State Senators and State Representatives announced today that they have officially signed on as members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration. Included legislators are: Senators Brophy, Harvey, Kopp, Renfroe, Schultheis, and Representatives Balmer, C. Gardner, J. Kerr, Lambert, Looper, Lundberg, Sonnenberg, Summers, and Swalm.

Founded by Pennsylvania State Representative Daryl Metcalfe (R-Butler County), this national coalition of state lawmakers has been formed to demand full cooperation among federal, state and local governments to secure Americas borders against unlawful invasion and eliminate all economic attractions and incentives that continue to lure illegal aliens across the border, including but not limited to: public benefits, welfare, education and illegal employment opportunities.

With approximately 85% of citizens wanting government to act decisively, we must shut down the main drawjobs. Until that is accomplished, all other effort is mainly window dressing. The threat to our national security demands we take action, said Senator Schultheis (R-Colorado Springs).

Including Colorado, legislators from 25 states have signed on as pioneer members of State Legislators for Legal Immigration. According to the National Conference of State Legislatures as of April 13, 2007, state legislators in all 50 states have introduced at least 1,169 illegal immigration reform bills and resolutions"more than twice the total number of introduced bills (570) in 2006. All totaled, 57 of these illegal immigration reform measurers have been enacted in nearly 20 states.

Of the many illegal immigration bills introduced in Colorado in the past two years, only a handful of significant bills passed the legislature while some bills have taken Colorado backwards. During the 2007 session, the Democrat-controlled legislature passed 2 bills that loosened Colorado's current immigration laws.

State Legislators for Legal Immigration will support the interests of American workers, American national security, and American taxpayers. Americans expect their leaders to secure our borders, to oppose amnesty, and to enforce our immigration laws; and thats exactly what we intend to do, said Representative Kent Lambert (R-Colorado Springs).
