Currently, not wearing a seatbelt is a secondary offense, which means you can't get pulled over for it, but you can get a ticket if you're pulled over for something else. SB09-296 by Sen. Boyd (D-Lakewood) would make this a primary offense--meaning you can be pulled over if a police officer sees you are not wearing one.
